A dating platform made for gay men, that’s Gaydar.net. This platform is well-known and with a very good reputation for many years, already is, or should we say was, a reference in the domain. A great animated landing page, the key-feature nicely presented, and even the premium membership is announced. Only good things are heard from them, but it seems that since a new owner runs the place, everything goes not as smoothly as before, and that’s what we want to check here.

Indeed, the new owner is, for several years already, GDOnline LTD, a company based in London, United Kingdom. And even if the platform seems to be the same as before, every single post based on past experience of former members says the same thing: nothing seems to work anymore. A lot of bugs and malfunctions are reported and never fixed. It is not designed as a scam, but still a poor website to use.

The landing page lets us register very easily with an email, a Facebook account or even with an Apple account. Once registered we arrive at the member area, with a lot of features such as browsing the pool of members, chatting (via a different site), live sex webcam and even commercial services.

This review started out extremely well, as we already know, Gaydar.net is a well-established dating platform in the gay men community. However, things have been turned upside down since the new managing company is in the place. GDOnline LTD, a company based in London, United Kingdom, seems to be of poor judgement and poor support, as their platform slowly goes down as a wreck ship in the ocean.

Every single experience that we read from former members and through our own test during this review seems to show that the IT department took some very long holiday, and many bugs and crashes cause the website to be really annoying to us. More importantly, it also seems that a lot of fake profiles start to appear on it, which is the worst for a dating platform.

Incompetence is not a scam

Even if browsing and using the feature wasn’t as nice as it could have been due to these several malfunctions, we cannot call it a scam. Even the subscription system is fair and is definitively not a rip-off. However, that’s no excuse for this company, who is almost as untrustworthy as a random scamming operator of a shady dating website.

And for proof, the number of active users seems to drop pretty quickly and the pool of users could be soon shrunken to only fake profiles trying to rip you off outside the platform. Yes, it looks like there is no such thing as a fake chat or fake operators, not even a subscription rip-off. However, being fooled by someone, coming from the website or from someone exterior to it, is never a pleasant thing.

Dating website or Sex Shop

For our final point, we just want to argue that some features offered by Gaydar.net would seem more appropriate in some pornographic websites or sex shops. Indeed, if we are correct, we register here to find love or at least some nice hookups. If we wanted something else like live sex show, or directly buy some pleasant company, we could go to some other kind of website designed for it.

A famous and great dating website sinking into the wild ocean of the internet, that’s pretty much the story of Gaydar.net. A lesson for us, to never let our guard down when it comes to dating online. Even a platform as trustworthy can become a shady place where the fake profiles are legion and try to scam you outside the platform. Add a very annoying experience using the platform, and you have all our reasons to not recommend this website.
