Even if we got some free credits to start a conversation, our experience told us it was just to get us hooked on their fake chat service.

We analyzed the Terms of Use to look for any suspicious paragraphs. We discovered that the platform was full of fictitious profiles. At first, the name didn’t ring any bells, but we found out they used to call themselves ETCHY.COM. In fact, they are registered at the exact same address in the town of Breda, in the Netherlands. No matter how exciting the landing site may look, it is full of empty promises, as we proved during our review.

Digital “Loungepals”

The portal states openly in the Terms and Conditions that they create fake profiles. This gives the user the illusion of activity on the chat. This company always finds a creative name for these characters. This time they’ve called them “Loungepals.”

Most of the photos on the site looked like they were professionally taken and edited. There were some that looked like they could belong to the girl next door type. It was purposely done this way because the site wants us to believe there are some real people on the platform as well. However, we wouldn’t bet on it. The “Loungepals” should be easily identifiable, but the average user won’t recognize them at all. This is intentional in our opinion, so we believe the site is a scam.

There are options that cost up to 150 USD.

The portal doesn’t offer a subscription model, but the cost of using the fake chat service is significant for the client, nonetheless. Sending one text message, gift, or photo costs 10 credits. In practice, that means a single message costs almost 2.5 dollars if users purchase the smallest package. It is a useless and outrageous expense. No matter how long users chat with these characters, they will never be able to other users from this website in real life. It is deceitful of the operator to say that users may meet someone who lives nearby.
