Report for WannaDateYou.com review

WannaDateYou.com is a cheeky online flirting platform that presents quite a few problems. The registration process is unusual. The website initially shows an uncomfortable pop-up, that makes it impossible to see the landing page behind it. Apparently, there is one lady in particular who is incredibly interested in us. Yet, we cannot do anything on the platform if we do not provide our e-mail address right away. This method feels very pushy, and it made us skeptical from the very beginning.

It took some time to find out that the company behind this dating portal is PrivateSocial AG, from Buochs in Switzerland. Many bogus operators are registered in this European country, so this made us even more wary of a possible scam. We do not have much experience with the company, and we could not find any reviews by former clients, or relevant information about them.

We set up a profile, so we could at least check the members’ area. Also, we examined the Terms of Use in search of anything suspicious. In fact, we found quite a few points that we consider highly problematic. In short, we can say this is a fake chat, which leads users into a subscription rip-off. Furthermore, the operator has zero interest in protecting the customers’ privacy. Also, we suspect that canceling your membership may be easier said than done.

Details on the WannaDateYou.com review

WannaDateYou.com is a tricky dating platform developed by PrivateSocial AG, based in Buochs, in Switzerland. The design of the landing page is pushy and confusing. The operator claims that there are thousands of thirsty ladies dying to hook up with us. Our temporary test profile was flooded with requests and notifications. After hundreds of reviews, we know they are just baiting us to purchase a phony subscription.

Employed operators

The ladies in the members’ area visited our profile non-stop. However, we had not filled out anything at all, let alone uploaded a profile photo. In case you need any confirmation, the Terms of Use clearly explain that the women on the website are just a fantasy. These accounts are operated by users employed by the company. They supposedly use them to ensure the proper functioning of the platform, but they cannot fool us.

The website also features an icebreaker system that sends alerts and messages to other profiles, from your own account. As far as we could see, this function could not be turned off. They argue that this will help us better our chances of finding a date. But at the end of the day, it becomes impossible to know if there is any real interest from anyone.

Excerpt from the Terms & Conditions (as of 05/10/2023)

We may from time to time create profiles that are created, managed and maintained by our employees. Such profiles may be created for the testing purposes to make sure the service is operating as expected and without any technical faults or glitches. To improve your chances of success wannadateyou.com provides you with a free icebreaker messaging service. This feature ensures your profile gets maximum visibility as your matches are automatically sent a personal icebreaker message on your behalf.

We reserve the right to use content from profiles, including the member username, public photos and videos, for using them in promotional material. Your profile and its contents may be searchable by, and you may be able to search for the profiles and their contents of members registered to other websites operated and powered by us, for example, co-branded or privately labeled. Your profile and its contents may be searchable by third-party search engines, for example Google, MSN, etc.

Privacy violations

It is also highly concerning that the operator does not protect the users’ privacy at all. In fact, the profiles are searchable, via any regular engines such as Google. We wholeheartedly recommend that you do not write any information that may reveal your identity, or exact location. It is best to avoid uploading any photos as well, as these will also become searchable. Given the sexual nature of this platform, this could bring you a lot of problems.

Furthermore, there is evidence in the Terms and Conditions that the operator will use your profile information on similar websites. We know, from experience, that they will have no qualms about copying your account, to populate other scams like this one.

Likely subscription rip-off

Given there are so many red flags, we have a hard time believing that the company will just cancel your membership whenever you want to. We have no direct proof in this case, but such treacherous operators often pretend to never receive your cancellation notice. Since the membership entails automatic renewals, they will likely continue charging you for as long as you let them. It may be necessary to take legal action, or at least contact your bank.
