Taimi.com is a very modern website with a rather unique concept. It is specifically designed for the LGBTQ community and combines features of a social network and a dating website. Similar to some well-known social networks, Taimi.com enables its users to create posts, like other members’ contents, upload pictures and videos, and so on. Additionally, there are several features typical for online dating platforms. Especially the search- and Filter functions, and the match-making system. Most features are free, but some are only accessible with an upgraded paid Taimi XL subscription.

Subscriptions

Taimi XL subscriptions come with numerous interesting benefits. XL subscribers can send unlimited messages to anyone and get a profile visibility boost. They can also enable an incognito mode and get access to additional filters. Taimi.com offers a free 7-day XL-trial membership. Unfortunately, this trial is a little bit cheeky. To get the trial, users must enter their credit card details. Once expired, it will be automatically converted to the rather expensive 1-month XL subscription. To avoid the automatic conversion, users must cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Online, we found some comments by former users, who consider this a subscription trap scam. But since everything is clearly explained in the terms and conditions, we do not think it classifies as a rip-off. However, we understand the frustration of those who accidentally end up with an expensive long-term subscription.

Questionable practices

Reading the terms and conditions, we find out that the members’ area contains “test profiles”, which are created by the site’s employees. These are supposedly created to monitor the operation of the service. Since “test profiles” is just another term for fake profiles, this leaves a rather bitter aftertaste. However, as we cannot find any hints that these profiles are used to trick the users in any way, we have no reason to believe that Taimi.com is a fake chat scam.
