The online dating platform CasualTemptation.com advertises free registration and over 1.3 million members. At first sight, the portal appears the perfect place to find casual sex dates in no time at all. To find out whether this is truly the case, we sign up, create a profile and start searching for potential matches from our area. Moreover, we carefully read the terms and conditions and browse the internet in search of user experiences and reviews. Unfortunately, it soon transpires that CasualTemptation.com is not a legitimate dating website, but rather a cheeky rip-off with a fake chat scam.
Immediately after registration, our test profile receives a lot of attention. Within just a few minutes, our virtual mailbox is flooded with chat messages. To us, this is rather suspicious, as we did not even upload a profile picture. Reading the terms and conditions, we soon learn where all these messages originate from – chatbots.
CasualTemptation.com uses self-created fake profiles, so-called virtual profiles. They are created by site employees and only show fictitious people. As we see it, they are used solely to send alluring fake messages to new users to lure them into paid services as quickly as possible.
Here is an excerpt from the Terms and Conditions
Notwithstanding the foregoing, by and throughout your use, access and interactions to and with the Services and related content, You may interact with content generated by, or with the assistance of, automated online accounts (“Bots” or “Automated Profiles”), where none – or substantially none – of the actions and posts of that Automated Profile are the result of, or arise in connection with, a natural person’s profile or otherwise User Content.
As the entire members’ area seems only to contain such fictitious profiles, it is extremely unlikely that a user can ever meet a real person or arrange an actual date here. The entire chat experience is therefore completely pointless. Moreover, it is extremely expensive and may very well lead to a long and costly subscription trap.
Potential subscription rip-off
To unlock the chat feature and reply to incoming messages, users must purchase a paid membership subscription. But these subscriptions continue automatically, and the chances are that they are rather difficult to cancel. Since the site operator is obviously not trustworthy, we strongly advise you to stay away from any of the subscriptions offered. As you can only meet fictitious people here, chatting is a waste of time anyway.
The operator of this rip-off website is Lutetium Ltd, which is based in Nicosia in Cyprus.
