Report for WhatsUpSex.com review

Our review for WhatsUpSex.com, an online dating site, starts with the landing page, where we are greeted by the picture of a smiling young woman. A quote reads, “where you and me turn into us” in bold print, underneath the image. This gives the impression that casual physical experiences are the goal for this dating site’s users. We are invited to register for a free account and check out the profiles in our area.

You are limited to what you can do with a free account. The free account only allows access to the platform. Full access needs a full membership. To send messages and interact with other users, requires the purchase of the platform’s subscription service. We received some messages from other users, suspiciously quickly. This led us to believe that chat moderators, or bots, may be present on this platform.

WhatsUpSex.com is owned and operated by InfraWeb Solution LTD, from central Hong Kong. We can confirm the presence of a subscription scam from the site’s Terms and Conditions. This is a scam used by shady sites to rip off genuine users by encouraging them to sign up for a membership. With this membership, you cannot avoid the automatically renewing subscription payments.

Details on the WhatsUpSex.com review

After the registration on WhatsUpSex.com, we are redirected to the member page. Here, we can see the messages we have received, which are from obviously fake profiles, or the site admin. The message from the site admin includes “5 simple steps” on how easy it is to meet women on the site, along with a special discount offered for full membership. This tactic is used to get you to pay for full membership. If you are not a full member, you cannot use the site’s features or services.

The discount applies to the 1-day membership, which can be yours for $0.99. This is subject to renewal, at a monthly subscription rate of $38.59. This is evidence of a subscription rip-off. Furthermore, to cancel your subscription without being charged, you must opt out 72 hours prior to renewal. The scam is that if you choose their 1-day membership, which you are most likely to purchase, you fall into the trap. You cannot cancel the automatic renewal. So, you are forced to renew as you are out of the 72-hour cancellation period.

Subscription scam

The discovery of a subscription scam can be hard to spot. It is cleverly worded and well presented in the Terms and Conditions of WhatsUpSex.com. In fact, if you do not have prior knowledge of this scam, you will have a tough time finding the proof. Thankfully, for everyone, this is not a new experience, for us. After our thorough review of the Terms and Conditions, we found evidence of a subscription rip-off, which was as clear as day.

Excerpt from the Terms & Conditions (as of 27/07/2023)

E. All paid subscriptions automatically renew for the period and price that you signed up to. You may cancel the auto-renew feature to avoid recurring charges, but you must act at least 3 days (that is, 72 hours) prior to the renewal date. If you purchased subscription via iTunes Account, please check the cancellation period with your iTunes Account Terms of Use and cancel auto-renew via your iTunes Account before the next renewal date to avoid renewal.

Too late to cancel

The previous statement, which we pulled from WhatsUpSex.com, may seem complicated to understand. Which is the intention of InfraWeb Solution LTD, from Hong Kong. They deliberately confuse the user regarding the renewal times, hoping that you will buy their 1-day membership for less than a dollar. Later, you realize that you cannot opt out of a renewal of $38.59, because the 72-hour cancellation window has passed.

The conclusion from our WhatsUpSex.com review

At the end of our review of WhatsUpSex.com, we found that the platform was being used for a cleverly hidden membership scam. We also saw that staff profiles are used on the platform. The site says that these profiles are used to keep the site running. InfraWeb Solution LTD is pretending to be a dating site, to scam people who are looking for real relationships. We think you should avoid using this platform.
