Report for SunsetStrangers.com review

SunsetStrangers.com advertises with free registration. The dating website has a very modern look. That shows some effort was put into it, and it often indicates fewer chances of a scam. After our research, we figured that the website employs fake chat operators and fictive profiles. Those fake profiles will send messages to the new users and entice them to start a conversation. But the user must buy “credits” to chat with those fake profiles.

The website and the service are operated by White Castle Design BV, which is based in Zoetermeer, Netherlands. We are familiar with this operator as we already reviewed many of their “dating services”. The same kind of fake chat-rip off often comes back.

Details on the SunsetStrangers.com review

The dating website SunsetStrangers.com is beautiful. The landing page looks slick and modern. There, we can see in the background the picture of an attractive man and an attractive woman together, clothes off. With this service, we can apparently quickly find members to date nearby. So far, so good! A bit below on the landing page, we can see what seem to be the profile pictures of attractive female members. Great! The website also advertises having received an award for “Top hit in online contact in Canada”. On top of that, registration is free. What could possibly go wrong?

Excerpt from the Terms & Conditions (as of 29/04/2021)

SunsetStrangers.com is the platform for users to chat with fictive profiles. The website, service and content are being provided for entertainment purposes only and are not intended to be used for establishing meetings with other users.

So, the landing page advertises that this is the perfect website to “flirt” with strangers. In fact, when reading the terms and conditions we learn that by “flirt” the website actually means “chatting with fake profiles with no possibility of meeting anyone”. The website plays with the ambiguity of its landing page and the terms used to trick users into using the service. Therefore, we consider it to be a scam and a rip-off.

The website uses a “credits” system. Those credits are used to send messages. We are very familiar with this system. New users will create a free account and quickly be contacted by the fake profiles. The problem is that the free account does not allow users to read or reply to those messages. This will pressure new users into buying “credits” to chat back with the fake profiles.

If the user did not read the terms and conditions thoroughly, they will think that they are receiving messages from real profiles. There lies the scam. We did not find any review on the web that could detail the actual user experience. This is often the sign of a very new website and a low user base. The operator of the website is White Castle Design BV, which is a company based in Zoetermeer, Netherlands. This is a bit odd for a website operating in the US, possibly indicating a rip-off. We are quite familiar with this operator. It is not the first time we review one of their shady “dating service”. In fact, this company has quite a bad reputation online.

The conclusion from our SunsetStrangers.com review

The website uses ambiguous terms that may lead users to believe they have chances to meet real people. It turns out that this website employs fictive profiles and that it is not an actual dating website. The user must pay actual money to chat with the fictive profiles. As a result, we cannot recommend anyone to use this service.
