When first looking at CloseByFlings.com, it seems like a promising and exciting online dating portal. It advertises itself as a place where you can chat with hot local singles. It claims to have 4 million active members. The background image of the website shows an attractive and enticing woman. Combined with the handful of example members, displayed on the homepage, this platform comes across as full of good-looking singles to chat with. The operator of this website is listed as White Mountain Online Solutions BV, which is a company based in Krimpen aan den IJssel, in the Netherlands.

This website states that finding people to flirt with on their portal is easy. Supposedly, all users must do, is register for free. Then, they have “unlimited access” to the membership pool. However, we did some research and found that this is quite misleading. We conducted a review through the Terms of Service and creating a test account. We discovered that it is unlikely to meet real people on CloseByFlings.com.

When signing up for this website, individuals must acknowledge the fact that there are fictional profiles and agree to being contacted by these fake accounts. It is nice of this portal to clearly communicate that there are fake chat operators on their platform. But from our experience, we found that this website is still a rip-off. It is very difficult to distinguish the fake profiles from real ones. Since members must purchase a virtual currency to send messages, this is a fake chat scam.

Unfortunately, we took an in-depth look at this platform and found it to be a fake chat scam. Once on the portal, users will be met by a vast number of attractive profiles. However, in our experience, they are almost all fake. Furthermore, chatting on this site is not free. Users must buy a virtual currency to send messages.

Fictional profiles

Unlike many other fake chat scam dating websites, CloseByFlings.com requires users to acknowledge the use of fake profiles on their portal. All members must agree to receiving messages from fictional profiles, before creating an account. Though the Dutch operator of this platform, White Mountain Online Solutions BV, based in Krimpen aan den IJssel, is transparent about this, we still consider this website a scam. The reason for this is that it is very difficult to tell that a profile is fake.

According to the Terms and Conditions, fictional profiles are marked by a heart icon. Though we did find this to be true, we had a hard time locating this marker on the profiles. It only appears if you go directly to a member’s profile page. It does not appear on the messaging page, which is where most users would probably look. Therefore, CloseByFlings.com is a scam because users will probably not realize the profiles are fake.

In our experience with CloseByFlings.com, we found the biggest issue to be the virtual currency system. Using the chatting feature of this website is not free, despite what users would assume, based on information on the homepage. When trying to respond to the enticing messages, sent by fake chat operators, we realized that we could not send any messages without first purchasing virtual coins. Each message you send on this website must be paid for with coins. Seeing as all the accounts we encountered were fake chat operators, this seems like a rip-off.

Despite looking like a promising dating portal at first, during our review, we found that CloseByFlings.com, managed by White Mountain Online Solutions BV, from the Netherlands, is a fake chat scam and a rip-off. Meeting real people is unlikely. All the profiles we interacted with on this website were fake chat operators. Though the website admits to the use of fake profiles, it is very difficult for users to notice when a profile is fake. Since users must pay to send messages, this is a rip-off.
