Introduction

Blink-Match.com promotes itself as the ‘number one alternative dating site’. We imagine that they want to present the platform as a better option than the major apps and platforms. After all, the singles on the landing site don’t look very alternative.

Sadly, I immediately realized that this was just a virtual flirt and chat site. It claims to help you find people for a fling, or a long-term relationship, but I found too many fictitious profiles. The website is managed by Take Two LTD, from Cyprus. All their websites look pretty much the same, and offer an outrageously expensive fantasy sex chat. The users pay for every message they send. It is a great deal for the operator, whereas, the customer ends up with a hole in their pocket.

Usability and design

First impression

The landing page shows a young couple, with the woman on top. You can only see her face, the rest of the image is blurred. Next to them, a registration form invites us to sign up. The rest of the landing page insists on how the website prioritizes the safety and discretion of its users. It looks like anything is possible here, from a sexy one-night stand, to a committed romantic relationship. The overall look of the website is modern and fresh, but it reminds me too much of other questionable dating sites.

Navigation

Browsing is designed to be intuitive, even for people with little experience with social media and online dating. One can take a look at the profiles, where we find gorgeous ladies, and also, more normal-looking individuals. However, the first thing you notice, is a huge amount of messages flooding our chat inbox. This will happen even if your profile is completely empty. Of course, this is a major red flag. This should warn you about the existence of imaginary profiles.

Registration process

Blink-Match.com gives us two options. You can either register via your Google account, or you can provide an email address. Furthermore, you must fill in your birthday, sex, and sexual orientation. Next, you must create a username and personal password. To provide localized results, I was asked to indicate my country and city of residence, since Blink-Match.com is aimed at an international audience, and is available in several languages. You are also required to accept the Terms of Use and to verify your email address.

This paragraph proves that the company creates fictitious profiles, which are used to flirt with visitors. Their only goal is entertaining the user, and making them believe a real connection is blooming, so they will spend more money on the chat. It doesn’t seem like there are any real people in the members’ area at all. As confirmed by the Terms of Use, it is impossible to find a date here.

The design of the browsing area is very intuitive. Unsurprisingly, I received a few explicit messages right away, despite my empty profile. Occasionally, some ads tempt you into buying a credit package. I found the main features on a menu to the left:

– Chat: Message exchange with other members.

– Roulette: A photo carousel, where we are shown random profiles. We can give a like to our favorites.

– Views: Have you awakened anybody’s curiosity?

– Favorites: Make your own list of star profiles.

Communication tools

In my opinion, there are no actual communication tools on Blink-Match.com. No real people participate in the chat, so no genuine human-to-human communication can take place. However, some people may enjoy flirting with a virtual character. Fair enough, but this is not how the website presents it. Despite appearances, what they offer is merely an artificial conversation, generated by programming. The counterparts are the so-called ‘system profiles’. You may give them a like, but this is as far as things can go on this website.

The privacy policy simply shows that the website complies with the current data protection laws. The operator mentions the possibility of choosing a username, as another measure to protect your privacy. Private data will only be shared with third parties, if strictly necessary.

The website places a lot of importance on making the user feel safe. On the landing page, you see several labels, supposedly guaranteeing that our payments, and data, are properly encrypted. Blink-Match.com targets a young audience, primarily heterosexual, according to the images on the landing page. However, it is still possible to sign up as a lesbian or a gay man. But at the end of the day, we know from experience, that most customers are probably male. I have rarely found women involved in this type of fantasy sex chat. Naturally, this website is only for adults, but there is no effective age verification of the users.

Paid functions: When you pay for a coin package, you can start sending messages. For each message, a certain number of coins will be extracted from your virtual wallet. There are no more advantages, other than messaging.

It may seem harmless, but these virtual flirts will turn out to be a very costly hobby.  The user is bound to buy a coin package if they want to participate in the chat. These coins are used to pay for every message sent. There are no recurring payments, so at least it is up to you, to top up, once you run out. The only accepted payment methods are Visa and Mastercard. The charge will show up as Take Two Digital LTD on the bank statement.

Blink-Match.com sells itself as a dating portal which works as an alternative to better-known dating apps and websites. The design is modern, young, and fresh. It promotes the idea that they will help you find a lover, in your local area. However, the chat hosts virtual profiles, and it is impossible to land a proper date.

Furthermore, you must pay for every single message, and it quickly becomes extremely expensive. Let’s add that the fantasy profiles are not shy at all, and shamelessly flirt with every single visitor. It is the usual strategy devised by Take Two LTD, from Limassol in Cyprus. All pros and cons considered, I wouldn’t call this a legit dating site.
