Report for DesireMatches.com review

DesireMatches.com advertises itself as an online dating portal with over 1 million active members. It claims to be a popular site that can help users find hookups fast. Registration is free and the homepage displays a variety of beautiful women. Showcasing stunning ladies is a tactic used to suggest to visitors that these are the type of people they could meet if they use this portal. The operator is listed as Maunaloa LTD, based in Nicosia, Cyprus. We are quite familiar with this operator and have written negative reviews about them in the past.

Unfortunately, we noticed a few red flags about DesireMatches.com and decided to investigate further. Given the suspicious operator and the mention of computer-generated profiles, we took a more intense look at the terms and conditions. We also performed a first-hand test of the website by creating our own account. As expected, we found this to be another fake chat scam. Given our prior experience with this moderating company, we were not surprised to see that DesireMatches.com uses fake chat operators and subscription traps.

DesireMatches.com is not free to use, as suggested on the landing page. In truth, users will find that they must purchase a premium membership to send unlimited messages, view photos, look at other profiles, and more. This is a subscription trap, since the subscriptions will automatically renew if users don’t cancel on time. The website also admits to using fictitious profiles, which means that the messages users will likely receive will very well be fake or automated. Therefore, we do not recommend this portal for anyone looking to have real meetups.

Details on the DesireMatches.com review

DesireMatches.com may look like a highly frequented and reliable dating portal for finding local hookups, but thanks to our history with this site, we know from experience that it is not. In our review of the terms of service, subscription details, and membership features of the site, we confirmed that DesireMatches.com is a fake chat scam and a subscription rip-off. If you want to start chatting with local singles or find hookups, then this is not the dating platform for you.

Sketchy subscriptions

As we have observed, the requirement of extra payments to send messages or browse profiles is an immediate red flag for dating services. Despite it being free to make an account on this dating portal, this is misleading. Once signed up, members will be encouraged to upgrade to a premium account to unlock unlimited chatting and other essential features. This means that a free account is essentially useless for finding a date because the ability to message or send replies is limited.

The subscription details page shows a few different packages available for purchase. The prices are misleading. This issue is that if you purchase the “cheaper” option, you will be charged the entire cost of 3 months at once. This payment is non-refundable, and it will automatically renew if not canceled before the vague deadline. These are a rip-off that we have seen from the operator, Maunaloa LTD from Nicosia, Cyprus, before.

Fictional profiles

The use of fictitious profiles is confirmed in the terms and conditions. The terms state that there are fake profiles and automated accounts present in their membership pool and that they can send messages to users. They claim that the purpose of these fake chat operators is to enhance the experience for users, but we recognize that this isn’t true. Automated profiles will commonly interact with new members by sending them flirtatious messages. The users are then encouraged to purchase an expensive premium membership. This is the subscription trap.

Also, the terms state that automated profiles are marked by “Emerald Hottie.” While using the site, we noticed that all the profiles that sent us messages had this, meaning they were all fake.

Excerpt from the Terms & Conditions (as of 10/10/2022)

From time to time, while You use Our Services, You may interact with automated online accounts and/or false profiles, which all its content has been generated by either: a) real persons that have been only contracted or employed by Us for the purposes set-forth below; or/and b) by automated programs or scripts, which dialogues none really exist and have been generated exclusively by programming (“Automated Profiles”).

The purpose of the implementation of Automated Profiles in Our Website is to enhance Your amusement experience and providing You with entertaining and conversational services, so You can be stimulated to use Our Services more extensively, for example, by helping You to intercommunicate better with other users which are actually real.

According to the Bolstering Online Transparency Act or any other equivalent regulation that may be applicable, We have added the tag with the nickname “Emerald Hottie” to all the Automated Profiles that are being used in Our Website, so You can clearly identify them. Such tag will always be displayed on the top bottom right of the user’s identification information.

The conclusion from our DesireMatches.com review

Despite seeming great on the surface, DesireMatches.com is not a trustworthy dating portal. The site contains a subscription rip-off. Users will have to buy an auto-renewing premium membership if they want to use the chatting features. Also, even if you don’t mind making these payments, there is no point because every profile we encountered on this site was fake. If you are looking to meet up with local singles or have flirty chats, we would not suggest this website.
